It depends entirely on where you're playing. For casual games — kitchen-table Magic, Commander pods, and playtesting a deck before you buy singles — proxies are widely accepted, and most casual playgroups are happy to allow them. Many Commander tables specifically welcome proxies because the format is built around fun and expensive staples. However, proxies are not legal in sanctioned or competitive tournament play. Official Wizards of the Coast tournament rules require authentic cards, so you cannot use a printed proxy at a Friday Night Magic event, a competitive REL tournament, or any sanctioned competition. The simplest rule: proxies are for casual and playtest use, real cards are for sanctioned events. Always check with your playgroup or tournament organizer first.

Every proxy is printed at 2.5" × 3.5" (63mm × 88mm) — the exact standard Magic: The Gathering and trading-card dimension. That's the same size as a card you'd pull from a booster pack, which means your proxies fit standard sleeves, slide into the same deck boxes, and feel identical in hand next to real cards. You don't need special sleeves or oversized storage; anything that fits a normal Magic card fits a Snapshot proxy. Sizing is handled automatically when you upload, so you don't have to do any math or cropping to hit the dimensions.

Yes — this is the core of what we do. You're not limited to a database of existing cards. Upload any image: a scan of a real card, original artwork you made or commissioned, a custom commander, a full-art alter, a token, or a completely invented card. Whatever the image shows is what we print onto the card face. This makes Snapshot useful well beyond standard proxies — players design custom cards, joke cards for friends, and personalized alters that don't exist anywhere else. The only requirement is a clear, reasonably high-resolution image, since print quality follows the quality of the file you upload. If you can see it on screen, we can put it on a card.

Standard production and shipping is two to three business days, and that window starts when your order is confirmed — not from some future queue date. We print and fulfill domestically from our facility in Des Moines, Iowa, which is what makes that tight timeline possible: no overseas leg, no customs delays. Every order within the USA ships free and includes tracking, so you'll know exactly when your cards land. If you're proxying a deck for a specific game night or event, order four to five business days ahead to give yourself comfortable margin, though the two-to-three day window is usually quick enough for a weekend session.
